Beef Haleem
<br /><br />Ingredients:<br />- 1 cup boneless beef, cut into small pieces<br />- 1 cup wheat grains (haleem)<br />- 1/2 cup split yellow lentils (moong dal)<br />- 1/4 cup split Bengal gram (chana dal)<br />- 1/4 cup split red lentils (masoor dal)<br />- 1 onion, finely chopped<br />- 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste<br />- 2 teaspoons red chili powder<br />- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder<br />- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder<br />- Salt to taste<br />- Oil or ghee for cooking<br />- Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing<br />- Sliced ginger and lemon wedges for serving<br /><br />Instructions:<br />1. Wash and soak the wheat grains in water for at least 2 hours.<br />2. In a pressure cooker, add the soaked wheat grains, split yellow lentils, split Bengal gram, and split red lentils. Add 4 cups of water and pressure cook for about 4-5 whistles or until the grains are soft and mushy.<br />3. In a separate pan, heat oil or ghee and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.<br />4. Add the ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute until the raw smell disappears.<br />5. Add the beef pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.<br />6. Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.<br />7. Transfer the cooked wheat grains and lentils mixture to the pan with the beef. Mix everything together.<br />8. Add more water if needed to achieve the desired consistency. Simmer the haleem on low heat for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.<br />9. Adjust the seasoning according to your taste.<br />10. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.<br />11. Serve hot with sliced ginger and lemon wedges on the side.
