Project Difference between Lie & Lay
Lay is a verb that commonly means “to put or set (something) down.” Lie is a verb that commonly means “to be in or to assume a horizontal position” or “to make an untrue statement.”<br /><br />For the sake of this video, understand lie is a homophone (discussed for another lesson) which means a type of word that is pronounced the same as another word but differs in meaning. In this case, we are referring to the first explanation.<br /><br />The best way to remember is that lay takes a direct object, and lie does not.
