This multimedia video tutorial will explain you, how to construct a perpendicular bisector of a line. A line intersecting another line at a right angle or 90ー is said to be perpendicular to it. Perpendicular is an important topic of study in Practical Geometry for Class 6 CBSE.

In order to construct a perpendicular bisector to the line (PQ) passing through a point (A), proceed with following steps:

Step 1: Draw a line PQ.

Step 2: Draw an arc from point A (outside the line) to line PQ intersecting at point C and D.

Step 3: Taking the same radius (as above) place pointer of the compass at point C and draw an arc on other side of line PQ. Now, place the pointer of the compass on point D and draw another arc intersecting at point B.

Step 4: Join the line AB, line AB is perpendicular to line PQ and passes through point A.
