A man in Kerala, India carried his pregnant wife nearly 25 miles in the rain and through a forest to get the medical help she and their unborn child desperately needed.

Eventually he was able to find a Jeep to take them the rest of the way to the hospital.

Upon their arrival, the woman, who was 7 months pregnant, was having convulsions.

Doctors were able to save her life, but not the baby’s. They credited her survival to the fact that she was carried to the facility.

She is reported to be recovering from the ordeal itself and the labor that had to be induced for her to deliver the fetus.

As word of the man’s incredible feat has spread, offers of donations for the couple have been pouring in.

They live in the Konni forest and rely upon selling its resources such as honey to make their living.

The equatorial rain forest attracts a good amount of visitors because of its natural beauty and well-known elephant training facilities. Other than tourism one of its biggest businesses is rubber.
