Ice on the Kuskokwim River at Aniak, Alaska, usually washes away in early spring, but this year the thaw has been later than expected. Madrona Sakar and Dave Cannon were there to capture this dramatic footage of huge ice chunks, some as big as a house, rising 50 feet in less than 10 seconds as the river broke up the ice mass. This video captures the power of the river as it breaks up and swallows huge swathes of ice. Credit: YouTube/Dave Cannon.
