Heavy rains and floods continue to inundate southern and southwestern China, state broadcaster CCTV reported.
Tropical storm Rumbia made landfall Tuesday morning bringing gale force winds and heavy rains to coastal cities.
According to CCTV, local authorities are monitoring the storm and have asked fishermen to return to port.
Torrential rains caused flooding in some residential areas destroying infrastructure and leaving some people stranded.
The local broadcaster said 355 firemen assisted in rescue efforts. A total of 6,800 people were removed from heavily-flooded villages in the area.
