STORY: The funeral of a policeman killed on Monday in clashes at a pro-Mursi protest in Cairo took place at Alexandria's Aiemari Mosque on Tuesday.
Armed men in civilian clothes protected the crowd who chanted anti-Muslim Brotherhood slogans as they waited for the coffin to come out of the mosque and for the funeral procession for Mohamad AlMaseer to begin.
Men held a banner reading: 'He died, betrayed by brotherhood bullets,' while policemen carried Egypt's flag.
The mother of the dead policeman along with other family members bid farewell to their son as the coffin was brought out and carried away by the roaring crowd to the Alexandria cemetery for burial.
The death toll in violence at the Cairo headquarters of the Republican Guard rose to 51, the head of Egypt's emergency services said. The number of wounded was 435.
The military said "a terrorist group" had tried to storm the building. The Muslim Brotherhood said
