Thousands gather in Srebrenica to attend a memorial ceremony for 8,000 Bosnian Muslims massacred by Serb forces in 1995.

They have come to rebury 409 newly-identified victims of the notorious crime for which Bosnian Serb political leader Radovan Karadzic and military chief Ratko Mladic are on trial.

It was the worst mass killing in Europe since the Nazi Holocaust during World War Two.

Srebrenica remains an open wound -- the cold facts still disputed by many Serbs.

Among those buried Thursday were 44 boys, between the ages of 14 and 18 -- and a baby girl who died in a United Nations peacekeeping compound.

Their remains were dug from nameless death pits and identified through DNA analysis.
