(SOUNDBITE) (English) SPEAKER OF DAIL, SEAN BARRETT, SAYING:
"Ta 127. Nil 31. The bill is passed."
This is the moment Ireland's parliament passed a controversial law allowing abortion under certain conditions for the first time.
Friday's decision came after two days of parliamentary debate and months of polarisation in the Catholic country - including letters to the prime minister written in blood.
It follows the case of an Indian woman living in Ireland, who died due to pregnancy complications last October.
An inquiry earlier this year into Savita Halappanavar's death revealed that a timely abortion may have saved her life. .
Her father said he welcomed the move.
The new law will allow abortion, but only when a woman's life is in danger.
