The aftermath of a car bomb near the oil-rich Iraqi city of Kirkuk on Monday, which killed at least one person and wounded 6 others.

It's the latest in a series of blasts that have rippled across the country and prompted warnings of wider sectarian conflict.

Twenty-four people were killed on Sunday as a number of blasts hit mainly Shi'ite provinces, including here in Kut, where five people died.

These men chant "There is no God but Allah' as a victim's body is removed.

In the southern oil hub of Basra, three bombs exploded near the headquarters of a Shi'ite party, killing at least 8 people.
