Archaeologists in Scotland have discovered what they believe to be the world's oldest lunar calendar.
The series of 12 pits which appear to mimic the phases of the moon and track lunar months was found in a field at Crathes Castle in Aberdeenshire.
A team led by the University of Birmingham believe the calendar was created by hunter-gatherers about 10,000 years ago.
