The poor animal had a broken tail and black marks on its belly which turned out to be tattoos depicting a local gang name.

A Good Samaritan found Petey and took him to a veterinarian for immediate care.

A rescue group was brought in to help Petey recover and get him ready for a normal life.

It is believed no sedation methods were used during the tattooing process. The rescue group is working with Petey to help him forget the past.

He reportedly becomes angry and frustrated around other dogs. His legs constantly shake and he is said to be ‘scared of the world’.

A fundraising campaign has been set up to raise $6,000. The rescue group will use the money to send Petey to a trainer, who will work with the abused dog to undo the damage caused by the previous owners.

Hopefully Petey would soon be ready for a new home.
