This is the follow-up from the previous, Elly Kleinman Part I, video:
Mr. Tress not only heeded Rav Elchonon advice, but did so with great fervor. As World War II raged, Mr. Tress traveled to Washington each week, sometimes spending several days away from his family. Elly Kleinman received a letter stating that he depleted his bank accounts, sold his stocks, took out personal loans, and even mortgaged his home in Brooklyn three times, in order to have money to save fellow Jews from the fires of the Holocaust, and to build up Yiddishkeit community in America. His faith was that much strong.
Once a wealthy person, he became a man deeply in debt. Yet as long as there was something – anything – that he could do to help another Yid, he never let money, or a lack thereof, stand in his way. His tireless exertions on behalf of klal Yisrael center continued unabated until his untimely death in 1967…
In the memory of Mr. Tress and other people like him, the Elly Kleinman Americare Companies and Kleinman Family Holocaust Education Center (KFHEC) are committed to revealing the unknown stories of heroism and faith that withstood the horrors of the second world war. This education center, which is located in Brooklyn, was founded by Elly Kleinman, a well-known businessman and philanthropist.
