Dehra dun is a sprawling town in the terai region of the sub-Himalaya, nestled between the ancient Shivalik mountains and the younger Himalaya. It is growing fast, possibly beyond its capacity, and in recent years has been subject to rampant development, thus placing a strain on its resources. Parking has become an issue and the roads are crowded. Educational institutes have burgeoned on its periphery, in recent times.
