Baggage and airports somehow don't seem to mix well.

Faced with 1,400 dollars in baggage fees, a man abandoned his luggage at a check-in counter in the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

His action resulted in a two-hour plus shut down of the Delta Airlines check-in lobby.

Law enforcement officials visually inspected the bags and then had them x-rayed. After noticing some wires sticking out of one, a bomb squad was consulted to determine if the effects contained anything explosive.

Eventually, they resolved that there was nothing harmful contained within and continued with a search for the owner of the belongings.

With the help of the airline and the Port of Seattle police, the passenger who had dumped them was located. Port Authority of New York/New Jersey officials met his flight when it landed at JFK.

Upon questioning him they learned that he’d left four of his seven bags behind because of the fees.

The airline charges between 35 and 125 dollars a piece for additional baggage and up to 200 dollars per case for excess weight.

It was decided that the man had no intention of criminal activity and he was released.
