One man found some rare coins during the hunt for his keys. Although they have not yet gotten appraised, it is currently thought the coins could land between $700 and $800 each.
Usually, misplacing keys means frustration and time wasted. However, that wasn’t the case for one man named Ifor Edwards, who found some rare coins during the hunt for his keys.
The UK farmer recently dropped his keys in a field. 56-year-old Edwards and his wife Anna called in local metal detector enthusiasts to assist with the search. Thankfully the team found the keys but they also discovered something else.
With the help of metal detectors, the searchers located 14 mediaeval coins which are from the 14th and 15th centuries. Edwards stated “You just can’t believe you’re holding something that is 600 and something years old. We only bought the land three years ago and nothing like this has ever been found before.”
The coins are said to be in good condition. They are about 90 percent silver. Although they have not yet gotten appraised, it is currently thought the coins could land between $700 and $800 apiece.
Edwards is going to share whatever the proceeds are with the historian who found the monetary pieces with the metal detector.
