The congressional cemetery in Washington, DC has decided to hire a group of goats instead of the traditional maintenance crew for their yard upkeep.

With data increasingly validating that humans are contributing to climate change, more and more organizations are looking at ways to reduce their environmental impact.

The congressional cemetery in Washington, DC has decided to hire a group of goats instead of the traditional maintenance crew for their yard upkeep.

The advantage of such method is that not only the goats will get rid of unwanted weeds and plants but also fertilize the grounds. There are other benefits as well. Goats can reach parts of the lawn that industrial mowers can't. And generally, they tend to be a cheaper option. However, there can also be drawbacks - for instance, goats may not always remove undesired plants evenly.

The historic cemetery was established in 1807. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the cemetery is the final resting place for many prominent individuals including senators and cabinet members.

About 100 goats will be working the grounds of the cemetery 6 days a week for 24 hours a day.
