The generation of young American men known as millenials are more likely to be living at home with their parents than young women of the same age group.

According to the Pew Research Center’s examination of United States Census Bureau data, 36 percent of adults between the ages of 18 and 31 are still living at home with their parents.

That’s the highest percentage in forty years.

Adults in this age group are known as millenials, and the men among them are more likely to be living at home with their parents than their female counterparts.

40 percent of young men are still living with mom and dad, compared with 32 percent of millennial generation women.

There are a few possible reasons behind this shift, including educational, economic, social and cultural changes.

A sociologist from Ohio State University says that people getting married later in life is contributing to the increase in people staying with their parents, and men are getting married two years later in life than women.

Another possible reason for the difference between young men and young women is that fewer millennial age men are attending, or graduating from college, so it’s more difficult for them to find a job and afford housing.

Tell us what you think. Why are so many adults still living with their parents?
