The eleventh typhoon to hit China this year struck the country's south coast on Wednesday bringing high winds and heavy rain and causing havoc to transport systems.

Typhoon Utor blew in with winds reaching up to 151 kilometres per hour. It lashed Guangdong province, uprooting trees and bringing down power lines.
