India plans to roll out ambitious food scheme

The Indian government is planning to roll out a landmark scheme to provide subsidised food to two-thirds of the country's population.

More people will be able to buy rice and grains from discounted food shops, paying substantially less for basic needs.

It is an attempt to reduce hunger in a country of more than one billion people.

Al Jazeera's Karishma Vyas reports from New Delhi.
