Satyagraha is a political thriller film written and directed by Prakash Jha. The movie stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpai, Amrita Rao and Vipin Sharma in lead roles. It is being said that the current situations happening in India have inspired Jha to make Satyagraha.
Amitabh Bachchan is playing the role of Dwarka Anand, a man who is a firm believer of truth and an inherent believer of society, who wants his son to give back to society and the nation all that they have given him.
Ajay Devgn is playing the role of Manav Raghvendra. He represents as shining India and is a brilliant telecommunication czar, who uses the ways of the world to get what he wants in this corporate world.
Kareena Kapoor is playing the role of Yasmin Ahmed. She is a hard headed TV reporter out on the field and she digs deep and as an opinion. She is having a very strong relationship with Manav, but equally having a big clash on their respective ideologies.
Arjun Rampal plays the role of Arjun, who is a strong and socially committed to become a politician.
Manoj Bajpai plays the role of Balram Singh, as a cunning young politician who uses every means to break the system.
Amrita Rao plays the role of Sumitra as a socialist and the beloved daughter-in-law of Dwarka Anand.
Satyagraha reflects the revolution of the middle class against a corrupt and unfair system that leaves it with no option but to form an impulsive movement to challenge the status quo.
It is the story of a dynamic and determined young man (Ajay Devgn) who is poised to take the elevator of corporate success, when a personal heartbreak exposes him to the shocking outcomes of corruption in this country.
Joining his hands with an idealistic old man (Amitabh Bachchan), he sets fire to people's protest that soon rises into a massive movement with a national importance, and fighting with evil politicians, who have decided to crush and shame him. However, when aam janta's raw and uncontrolled anger is unleashed, the unintentional penalty could be horrific by itself.
On the whole, the movie deals with the movement of the middle-class to re-negotiate democracy.
'Satyagraha' is all set to release in theatres on August 30, 2013.
