Historically correct 80 percent of the time, the Farmers’ Almanac is predicting a major winter storm will hit the Northeast around February 1st through 3rd. Super Bowl 2014 is scheduled to take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on February 2nd.

After Super Bowl 2014, NFL officials may be advised to check the Farmers’ Almanac before choosing the locations of future Super Bowls.

The publication is predicting a major winter storm will hit the Northeast around February 1st through 3rd. Heavily-padded crowds with blankets are supposed to gather for Super Bowl 2014 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on February 2nd.

It is the first one to be held in an outdoor stadium in an area known for its cold winters in all of Super Bowl history.

The Farmers’ Almanac warns of an especially tough upcoming winter for two-thirds of the U.S., describing the cold as “piercing,” “bitter,” and “biting.” But the Midwest, Great Lakes, and New England areas in particular should expect to see a lot more snow than usual.

First published in1818, the Farmers' Almanac still uses things like lunar cycles, planetary positions, and sunspots to help everyone from gardeners to event coordinators plan their activities. 80 percent of its predictions are reported to be correct.

With many voicing concern, NFL officials seem to be making plans to mitigate any possible weather problems and claim that the halftime show will take place as planned.
