A 50-year-old robber reportedly waltzed through the doors of a bank in Athens, Illinois. As part of his efforts to hide his face and body, Arnell Edwards dressed in a pink dress, highlighted by purple polka dots.
Not all criminals wear the stereotypical garments.
One bank robbery suspect in Athens, Illinois opted to be a little more fashionable. The 50-year-old male named Arnell Edwards reportedly waltzed through the doors of the U.S. Bank. As part of his efforts to hide his face and body, Edwards dressed in a pink dress, highlighted by purple polka dots.
He also wore a vibrant colored wig and a white rag over his mouth. Edwards disguised his voice by speaking in a ridiculously high pitched tone.
During the robbery, Edwards handed the bank teller a note which read ‘STICK UP ALL MONEY.’ The worker placed stack of bills on the counter for Edwards to take.
Investigators soon arrested the suspect after a long standoff. Edwards had taken cover in an apartment belonging to a female friend. While cops worked to apprehended him, nearby businesses were forced to be evacuated and a school was placed on lockdown.
Officers were also able to locate the pink wig and dress in close proximity to the bank.
Edwards has denied all involvement in the crime, however abrasions on his hand and wrist match injuries that were spotted on the bank robber.
