Once in the game, it'll become instantly obvious how simple the experience is, but it'll also hook you. The entire premise behind Flight Control is to take the role of an air traffic controller.
There are three landing zones on the overhead map (helicopter, small plane, and large plane), and the more planes you guide on in, the faster others appear, with gameplay quickly becoming a frantic blaze of quick finger strokes and strategy.
Tapping and holding on any plane will highlight them, letting you draw a slick little dotted line anywhere on the screen, and the game does a nice job of magnetically "sucking in" the line if you near the landing zone, making route-drawing take a fraction of a second.
From there, it's all about watching the paths of dozens of planes a they approach, trying to judge the speeds and approach pattern of each, and making sure they don't collide. That's the whole premise.
