Fr. Eilas on the life of St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina who lived in modern times (died in 1968 a year before the first man landed on the moon) but was such a wonder worker of miracles that he rivaled all the saints of yore. This included the stigmata, the marks of the wounds of the crucified lord that appeared in his flesh, that our modern, proud science was stymied in its efforts to explain. The stigmata also stymied the humble Padre Pio who found this great outward sign of his interior holiness very much a cross that was the hardest to bear.
