Air France-KLM is in talks over whether to increase its stake in Italian carrier Alitalia.

The Franco-Dutch airline has long indicated that it has an eye on increasing its interest in the company.

Alitalia, assailed by deep loses and shrinking passenger numbers said it would not block Air France-KLM from taking a 50 percent slice of the airline, up from its current 25 percent holding.
