Televangelist Pat Robertson claims gay activists in San Francisco intentionally spread HIV - the virus that causes AIDS - with special cutting rings.
Robertson has a long history of paranoid anti-gay ramblings. Not one to rest on his laurels, he was at it again with these comments on his Christian Broadcasting Network:
"I think people in the gay community, they want to get people. They'll have a ring, and you shake hands, and the ring has a little thing where you cut your finger ... It's that kind of vicious stuff, which would be the equivalent of murder."
However, the comments, which were made during August 27 700 Club episode which appears on on CBN's website, have been edited out. Apparently even his handlers think this kind of talk goes too far, or that such language would draw too much heat.
CBN has successfully removed videos containing the controversial remarks from YouTube and Vimeo. Thankfully, the Internet never forgets and Robertson's comments are out there for good. To its credit, CBN's official transcript still includes the full conversation.
For your amusement, the following are several choice Robertson quotes:
On devastating storms in 2012: "If enough people were praying, (God) would've intervened. You could pray. Jesus stilled the storm. You can still storms."
On homosexuality: "Many of those people involved in Adolf Hitler were Satanists. Many were homosexuals. The two things seem to go together."
On Disney World's gay days:
"I would warn Orlando that you're right in the way of some serious hurricanes, and I don't think I'd be waving those flags in God's face if I were you ... It'll bring about terrorist bombs; it'll bring earthquakes, tornadoes, and possibly a meteor."
