A local office of the French Socialist Party was attacked early on the morning of June 17. An explosion destroyed windows and a door. The building was also painted with graffiti linking the attack to a group calling themselves the Action Committee of Winegrowers.
The attack occurred in the town of Carcassonne in Aude, southern France. Between midnight and 1 a.m. on Wednesday, an unknown number of attackers spray-painted "CAV" and "Le Foll" on the building's facade in reference to a militant winegrowing group and Stéphane Le Foll, the agriculture minister.
A bomb of unknown composition was then detonated, damaging the building's metal door and smashing windows.
Socialist Party and European Parliament Member Eric Andrieu called the actions criminal and cowardly but is sceptical the CAV is truly responsible. His party and the wine growers generally have good relations.
