The government shutdown is negatively impacting many aspects of our society from parks to law enforcement. However, it is also helping some businesses.
According to the folks behind the Sugar Daddy website known as Seeking Arrangement, its signups have increased by 50 percent this past week or so and they believe the influx of new members is due to the U.S. government’s decision to stall assistance programs.
The dating site’s PR manager Jennifer Gwynn “ For us to peak at the end of the month in September, and this week in general, it makes no sense for us to have a growth like this. Half of the new members are single moms, so we're thinking that it's tied directly to the government shutdown.”
And the increased usage isn’t just limited to Seeking Arrangement. Another dating website, What’s Your Price, which allows users to bid on dates, saw an inexplicably high number of new members in the past week.
What do you think? Could there be any possible link between the government shutdown and increased number of users for such websites?
