“The Income Tax raids on my house and shop was the handiwork of my detractors in the Managing Council of the Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society (HKES), who could not tolerate the growth of the society and developments taken up in different educational institutions and at the Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital,” said Shashil G. Namoshi, president of the HKES, whose house was searched for 17 hours here on Thursday.
Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, he said he was not worried about the IT search, which according to him did not fetch any incriminating material or documents.
He said he was ready to face any investigation or inquiry by the IT department. “I have not committed any wrong… I will cooperate with the IT officials,” he said.
Mr. Namoshi refused to divulge details about the raid and said he had been asked by the IT officials not to talk about it.
He said that it was true that the HKES had collected extra fees for taking up development activities and for the constructing buildings.
The HKES had collected building funds from students and also from the alumni of HKES during a recently-concluded Alumni meet, he said.
Mr. Namoshi said during his tenure as the president of HKES, he had taken up several development works and invested Rs. 30 crore on the Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital to convert it into a super speciality hospital.
