U.S. Senate leaders "optimistic" about deal

STORY: U.S. Senate leaders said on Monday (October 14) that they are nearing a deal to reopen the government and raise the country's debt limit.
Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said he was optimistic that a deal would soon be reached.
"Mr. President, constructive good faith negotiations continue between the Republican leader and me. I'm very optimistic that we will reach an agreement that's reasonable in nature this week ," Reid said from the Senate floor.
His statement was immediately followed by his Republican counterpart, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell who said he was also confident that the two sides would reach a deal.
"Let me just echo the remarks of the majority leader, we've had an opportunity over the last couple of days to have some very constructive exchanges of views about how to move forward. Those discussions continue and I share his optimism that we are going to get a result that will be accept
