Weapons inspectors have hailed significant progress towards removing Syria's chemical arsenal.

They have now visited half of Syria's known chemical weapons sites, where they are making the facilities inoperable, smashing control panels and destroying empty munitions.

But they are struggling to reach rebel-controlled areas.
