There are many things that get better with age. Technology products however are usually not part of that list.
However, in a story surprising to many, a first generation iPhone 2, recently sold on eBay for a hefty price - much more than its retail price when it was released years ago. The listing price on the item was just under $2,000.
The older model device is steadily gaining in popularity after becoming obsolete.
eBay seems to be the hunting grounds for those looking for the iPhone 2. New models with open boxes average a selling price of about 600 bucks, while completely sealed, brand new phones are selling for upwards of $2,000.
The sellers are asking even more for the first generation phone. In one listing, the buy-it-now cost for a new 2G sealed box is $5,499, however those advertising mountain-high asking prices are the ones who sit on the devices, with no offers for awhile.
The high figures seem to prevail mostly for the 2G iPhones in new condition. The fact that older gadgets are now selling for thousands might make you want to hang on to that computer or TV from several years ago.
