US investment bank JP Morgan Chase is said to be close to agreeing a $13 billion settlement with the Justice Department over its sale of investments backed by sub-prime mortgages. The payout would be the largest in US corporate history. French energy company EDF has signed a deal worth €19 billion to build two nuclear reactors in England.
