I struggled between this pinpointer and the DetectorPro Pistol Probe Pulse Pinpointer and decided on Garretts because it is smaller, it has a scraping edge, a light and can be rinsed under water. The depth may not be as much as the Pistol Probe but if you pin point well with the metal detector you dont need the extra depth. The couple of inches I get with this pin pointer is all I need to help quickly locate my "treasure". It has saved me hours of digging time. It has been dropped from waist level and survived. The vibration may not be as strong now since it was dropped but overall I feel it has held up well. I will continue to use this detector and would recommend it to anyone. http://jewelryaim.com/1496867
