Beijing Police recently posted a series of driving tips aimed at women on a popular Chinese social media site.
Women took to the Internet to express their outrage, some demanding that the posts be revised.
A particularly insulting post began with the proclamation that women drivers, "usually have inadequate driving skills and often lack a sense of direction."
It went on to say that women’s natural leanings towards panic-ridden responses often make matters worse when accidents occur.
Among the additional perils that women lost in states of hysteria create, according to the police, is the heightened risk for criminals to take advantage of the situation.
Other ways the police see women as exacerbating their own problems is by wearing heels while driving and failing to pull their hair back before they get on the road.
Further, a woman’s tendency to decorate the insides of their cars also presents a danger.
People responding to the posts call the police out for being discriminatory and in one case, falsely motivated stating that most accidents are actually caused by men.
There has been no comment by the Beijing police on the posts or responses.
