(NYSE: M) and Kohl's Corporation (NYSE: KSS) third-quarter earnings released this week. Wal-Mart is expected to report fiscal 2014 third-quarter earnings of $1.13 per share on revenue of $116.75 billion, according to analysts' polled by Reuters, compared with earnings of $1.08 per share on revenue of $113.93 billion in the year-ago period. On Tuesday, shares of Wal-Mart edged down 0.46 percent to $78.65 in afternoon trading.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 42.90 points, or 0.27 percent, at 15,740.20. The S&P 500 Index was down 5.47 points, or 0.31 percent, at 1,766.43. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 7.42 points, or 0.19 percent, at 3,921.37.
