As a result of pornographic pictures being sent via the Nintendo 3DS system, the Japanese game manufacturer suspended photo and diary sharing services on October 2.
The 3DS system allows players to share photos and information to other players using a 'friend code'. However, codes posted to online forums have allowed people to abuse accounts by sending obscene images to unwitting users, including minors.
While measures to control inappropriate use are being discussed, Nintendo has admitted that it's impossible to completely stop the problem. As a result, the company has decided to suspend both picture and diary sharing services.
