The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has expressed his grief and sorrow on the incidents of violence occurring today in Kohat, Hangu and Rawalpindi. He said that the tragedy that struck Rawalpindi on the eve of Ashura was highly unfortunate and it had grieved everyone.
Mr Hussain said that the Rawalpindi tragedy was a deep-rooted conspiracy to spark sectarian strife in the country and appealed to the people and the religious scholars to hold their emotions instead of fighting with each other. He urged them to desist from damaging public and private property.
Mr Hussain said that everybody believes in One God, one Prophet (PBUH) and one divine Book irrespective of their sects. He said that decision as to who was on the right path and who was misled should be left to Allah alone.
Mr Hussain appealed to religious scholars of all schools of thought to preach sectarian harmony in their sermons for restoring the environment of harmony. He urged the government to take effective steps for protecting the life, property and places of worships and religious seminaries.
