Find the best financial services for you at: SMARTFINANCESOLUTIONS.NET - I am receiving a personal Injury Settlement, and at some point want to file bankruptcy..? - I will be receiving around 13,000. I am unemployed, have been since being laid off Dec. 09. There are some things i really need to do to help get me back on my feet with this money such a buy a vehicle and pay some bills. but after being out of work so long and some other debt the only option i really have is to file bankruptcy.
I need to know how this is going to effect me. I wont be filing for the bk until after i receive the money because i sure do not have it to spend now. I seen that in GA you can keep up to 10,000 personal property(including cash) among 3600 for a vehicle which pretty much covers my settlement. But i am no attorney or know anything much about bankruptcy and would appreciate any help anyone can offer.
Also- I have 2 personal loans i took out while i was working that i have defaulted on, approx 5k-6k and they were secured with collateral such as electronics but at this point they have broken, the items were a laptop, 2 flat screen tv's, and a desk top computer. How would this work since this collateral no longer exists and they can not get it back.
Also- I know i need to consult an attorney but until i receive the money i have no money to put in their hands to get all the info i need.
Thanks in Advance!! -
