Actress Joan Fontaine passed away December 15 at the age of 96.

The Hollywood legend was the star of Alfred Hitchcock's classics "Rebecca" and "Suspicion", for which she won an Oscar for best actress.

According to a longtime friend, Fontaine died in her sleep at her home in Carmel, California, after having been in failing health in recent days.
