Britain is under fire for rejecting a request from the United Nations to take in more Syrian refugees. The government of Prime Minister David Cameron said the focus of its aid should be to help Syria's neighbouring countries deal with the problem. Criticism against Britain's decision comes as the government faces separate condemnation over its handling of the case of a British doctor who died in Syrian custody.
