Inspect all food before consuming – it really is simple, but noteworthy advice. Recently a woman employed by the Wall Street Journal got a shocking and unwelcome surprise in her lunch.
The unidentified female reportedly ordered a nicoise salad from the UK based organic restaurant franchise, Pret A Manger. She brought her meal back to her desk at work and opened it up to find a dead frog lying on top of the lettuce leaves.
The frog blends right into the surroundings, but a close look reveals the amphibian, eyes closed, in its entirety. The woman took her half-eaten dish right back to the restaurant's location in midtown Manhattan.
She received an apology from the manager along with a refund and voucher for a free future lunch.
The vice president of brand marketing for Pret A Manger in the US confirmed the incident stating “We don’t use any pesticides with our greens and they go through multiple washing cycles. An unfortunate piece of organic matter has made its way through.”
The company expressed regret and claimed to be looking into ways for preventing such occurrences.
