Roy Murphy recently confessed that he robbed a St. Joseph, Missouri convenience store in hopes that the crime would land him back in prison.

Unfortunately for the 43-year old man, his attempt to take the store’s money wasn’t deemed aggressive enough to result in a conviction.

In a recounting of the alleged crime, it was revealed that Murphy entered the store carrying but not wearing a ski mask.

He approached the clerk and asked for the money.

When the worker refused to give it to him, he asked again, adding the word please to his request.

Still, he got no cooperation so he just asked that the person behind the counter call the police, and then he fled.

The judge hearing the case was reluctant issue a guilty verdict, as no threats were made during the attempt.

Murphy then revealed that he’d tried to rob the store for the sole purpose of being sent back to prison.

He went on to say that after his numerous years of incarceration, he lacked the skills required to exist on the outside.

Eventually, Murphy was successful in his goal, getting a 4-year sentence by pleading to a different charge.
