Vilma Bautista, a former aide to Imelda Marcos, walked out of court Monday while her lawyers appeal a sentence of up to six years in a New York state prison. She was sentenced in relation to a scheme to sell four museum-quality pieces of art that once belonged to the former Philippine first lady, including a Claude Monet water-lily painting that netted $32 million dollars. Her attorney spoke with the media.

"Really, we don't have a whole lot to tell you, but we will be filing an appeal and the appeal is going to be somewhat expedited, and we're hoping that the appellate division agrees with us."

Prosecutors said for more than two decades Bautista secretly held on to the artwork she knew was stolen from a Manhattan townhouse once used by Imelda and Ferdinand Marcos until she began selling pieces in 2010.
