At least four people were reportedly killed when a car bomb exploded in Hermel, northern Lebanon on January 16. The blast occurred in the busy Sabreh Hamadeh square at around 9am, and caused severe damage to surrounding structures. The blast, targeting a Hezbollah stronghold, comes as a special tribunal for Lebanon tries in absentia four men with alleged Hezbollah links accused of killing former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri in 2005.
