Paying tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr.
At his memorial in Washington -- a yellow wreath to honor the slain civil rights leader. The gathering, not far from the site where he delivered his compelling 'I have a dream' speech, was just one of many events marking his life. There were parades in San Antonio, Phoenix and Denver in honor of King's work to end segregation
Vice President Joe Biden reflected on King's legacy at a breakfast in Washington.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN SAYING:
"It's the everyday actions that inspire that are going to keep human progress rolling forward, and keep it from sliding back."
He added that the battle for equality is ongoing. He also pointed to a recent Supreme Court decision empowering states to modify their voting guidelines without federal approval -- as possibly detrimental to minorities.
