Challenge 1, 2 and 3 for the Heavy Weapons are all similar. You don't have to aim for the center of the targets to get the most points.
To get gold in all of the challenges all you have to do is hold down the trigger and hit as many targets as possible. Keeping up the multiplier is key to getting gold in all of the challenges.
