As protests continued in the Ukrainian capital, priests sung prayers to demonstrators gathered on the city’s main square, a solemn interlude to the violent clashes.
Their brightly coloured vestments are striking contrasts to the shields and helmets of riot police and the often-scruffy clothes of protesters.
Although the four largest churches, including three factions of Orthodox, compete for influence in Ukraine, clergy from all of them have shown up at the protests.
