Veteran designer Diane von Furstenberg dedicated her autumn 2014 collection to her famous wrap dress at New York Fashion Week.

Her signature frock marks its 40th anniversary this year, with an exhibition in Los Angeles chronicling the changes brought to the outfit since it was first created in 1974.

Entitled “Bohemian Wrapsody”, the collection had a retrospective
theme but also featured many new takes on the dress, in all sorts of colours and fabrics.

For her DKNY show, Donna Karan invited an assortment of ordinary people to show off her new collection. Walking the runway with confidence alongside professionals, these models-for-a-day drew enthusiastic cheers from the crowd. Karan said it was her way of celebrating the city of New York, its people and its energy.

Lubov and Max Azria of fashion label Herve Leger went back to the future for their autumn collection. The husband and wife duo said the idea was to pay homage to the technology that rules our everyday lives.

Models wearing dresses with sexy cutouts, luxurious feather fringes
and mesh detailing strutted down the runway.

The brand’s trademark bandage dress, traditionally made with a
sweater knit fabric, got a futuristic upgrade by mixing different
textiles, beadings and hemlines.
